​Low Income ​Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)​

LIHEAP provides federally funded assistance to reduce the costs associated with home energy bills, energy crises, weatherization, and minor energy-related home repairs.

Chicago
Homelessness Prevention Call Center: Dial 3-1-1 or (312) 744-5000 

​Ask for “Short-Term Help." TTY Access is available for callers using specialized TTY equipment due to hearing problems: 312-948-6817. Call Center staff will assess your eligibility for financial assistance and other community resources. The Call Center is open Monday – Thursday from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. If you reside in Suburban Cook County, call 1-877-426-6515 for help with basic needs. 

Chicago Community Service Centers  

​​Community Service Centers help individuals and families in need access a wide range of resources from shelter, food, and clothing to domestic violence assistance, job training/placement, and services for the formerly incarcerated. Clients can also get information about rental, utility, and other financial assistance programs. The centers also serve as warming and cooling centers during periods of extreme weather. The center's hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

StreetLight Chicago 

​For individuals 16-24 with unstable housing providing up-to-date information on shelters, health clinics, emergency beds, mental health services, and more.​ ​Can use to reserve a bed for the night at area shelters. 

Illinois Housing Help 

​​The Illinois Court-Based Rental Assistance Program (CBRAP) provides funding to Illinois tenants and landlords across the state (outside of Cook County) who have pending cases in eviction court. The program is only available to litigants in eviction court. Applicants may qualify for up to $25,000 in emergency rental payments that can include up to 15 months of past-due rent and 3 months of future rent payments to prevent eviction. 

The Crib (The Night Ministry) 

Our Youth Outreach Team identifies youth and young adults living on the streets or are at risk of becoming homeless and helps them meet their basic needs through resources and referrals. The Crib provides young adults ages 18 through 24 with safe and supportive overnight emergency shelter, as well as life and leadership development skills. Free and open for overnight shelter at 7 pm​

A Safe Haven offers a unique continuum of phased housing which consists of access to transitional, recovery homes, supportive, affordable, senior, and veteran housing. You can arrive any time between 7 pm and 6 am; serves ages 18-24, all genders.

Covenant House 

​Through collaborative agreements with leading agencies, Covenant House is able to provide access to mental health services on-site. During the intake process, trained staff work with the youth to identify any immediate needs and determine the best plan of action for everyone. Those who choose to may access treatment for mental health and substance abuse issues through Covenant House's community partnerships.The best drop-in time is right before 8 am; aimed at youth 18-24

​​We provide homeless and at-risk young adults ages 14 to 26 with the resources and support needed to overcome challenging situations. Youth have access to mentoring, support, health education, and various other services to help them break out of the cycle of homelessness.

BYC provides basic needs assistance, resource advocacy, mental wellness support, on-site psychiatry services, and telehealth for ages 12-24. Provides financial assistance based on income ($5 for low-income). If unemployed, you can sign a waiver for no income. If employed, you have to email check stubs. Regardless of insurance status, BYC never takes payments on-site. Spanish translation is available.

Mosaic Family Services  

Mosaic House provides safe emergency housing and opportunities for self-sufficiency for hundreds of women and children fleeing domestic violence and human trafficking. For survivors in need of shelter, Mosaic House provides safe housing, food, clothing, hygiene and medical supplies, household items, diapers, and other basic needs. Mosaic House staff provide services for residents and hotline callers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
