The Information Technology department has launched a phishing alert button that allows you to report a potential phishing email via your Outlook desktop client, Outlook web client or Outlook mobile client. This will empower the Information Technology department to review the email and take immediate action. We ask you to report all phishing emails using the Phishing Alert Report button.

How to use the Phishing Alert Button in the Outlook Desktop Client


  1. Open your Outlook client.
  2. Click on the phishing email message.
  3. Click the "Phish Alert Report" button, shown below:

  4. IMPORTANT: If you do not see the Phish Alert Report button noted above, contact the help desk at (800) 747-8367. ​
  5. ​Confirm that you want to report the email message as a phish on the pop-up that appears by clicking "Phish Report," example below.
     
  6. The message will be removed from your inbox for analysis and scanning. Once scanned you will receive an email response. If the message is phishing, you will receive confirmation that the phish was successfully remediated. If the message was not phishing it will be re-delivered to your inbox as an attachment.

How to use the Phishing Alert Button in the Outlook Web Client

  1. Login to office 365 at Outlook.office.com.
  2. Click on the phishing email message.
  3. Click the 3 dots on the right-hand side of the email:​
  4. Click on Phish Alert:

  5. Confirm that you want to report the email message as a phish on the pop-up that appears by clicking “Phish Report,” example below.
     
  6. The message will be removed from your inbox for analysis and scanning. Once scanned you will receive an email response. How to use the Phishing Alert Button on Outlook Mobile

  1. Launch Outlook Mobile client.
    • ​​Note native mail apps, i.e. Mail on the iPhone do not support the “Phish Alert” button.  Information Technology recommends switching to the Outlook application if you are currently using a native mail application.
  2. Click on the phishing email message. ​
  3. Click the 3 dots on the right-hand side of the email, example below:
